I would follow the encoder setting recommendations Facebook outlined in the 'Get Started' page linked above but with 'Strict Constant Bitrate' off and see if that fixes the issue.

You would then paste the stream key from Facebook into the 'Stream' field in Wirecast.įrom there, you can use our 720p30 Apple H.264 preset provided which may fix the issue or you can create your own encoder preset and experiment with your own settings.

Inside of the address field in Wirecast, you would paste in the RTMP Server address you got from Facebook into the 'Address Field'. The link above explains very well what the process is to stream to Facebook via an RTMP address Īfter you have acquired the appropriate RTMP information from Facebook, you'd add a 'RTMP Server' destination in our output settings window. The problem is related to the complexity of the input, so for example having fast moving video or frequent changes in the image (like scene switching) would show this problem. Hi George, from our internal tests we were able to replicate the problem with both Wirecast 7.7 and Wirecast 8.0 / Wirecast 8.1. If that is unacceptable, you could experiment by streaming directly to Facebook using our RTMP Server destination and creating your own Apple H.264 preset with different settings than our default presets provide. The best workaround as Craig has already mentioned would be to use x264. This problem is not limited to Wirecast, it would apply to any encoding application using Apple H.264 However, this is a catch-22 as any bitrates higher than 4Mbps would result in going above the recommended maximum as noted by Facebook here: It looks like our Facebook presets for Apple H.264 720p30 have bitrates too low for a quality output. Both of these factors compounded results in what you are seeing. With how H.264 video compression works, keyframes require a lot more data and don't compress very much. Apple H.264 is very inefficient in regards to the ratio of bitrate to quality. It looks like you are macroblocking on keyframes.
